Ace Zip

Taking the idea of a truck to its tinniest application, Tata Motors introduced the Tata Ace Zip micro truck in 2010. Even though it belongs to the Tata Ace family, the Tata Ace Zip is based on a much different design than the rest of the family members. Its tiny dimensions make it a perfect fit to ferry around goods and deliverables through narrowest of alleyways and peak traffic. This also means that the Tata Ace Zip is among the most affordable small commercial vehicles in the market as well. No wonder it continues to be such a big seller in the market.

Powered by a small single cylinder 600cc naturally as pirated diesel unit, the Tata Ace Zip makes a handy 12bhp at just 3000rpm while offering a more than adequate 35Nm of peak torque delivered in the 1600-1800rpm range. The gross weight of the Tata Ace Zip is around 1300kg while it can carry around a payload of 600kg while zipping through those thin spaces in the crowded markets. The suspension is taken care by MacPherson struts at the front and heavy-duty leaf springs at the back. Drum brakes take care of the braking aspect all around. Interestingly, it has a tank capacity of only 10 liters but with an ARAI certified mileage of 33kmpl, this should not be a worry.
