Tata Yodha with Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar as its brand ambassador is a worthy product aligned for action in the pickup segment. For starters, it can be understood as the utilitarian cousin of the more upmarket lifestyle pick up, the Tata Xenon. Being designed for more duty than style, the Tata Yodha gets a single cab design against the Xenon’s double cab thereby generating a much larger luggage/goods carrying space.
This means that the Gross Vehicle Weight is a tad bit different at 3350kg while its payload capacity is a commendable 1140kg to 1500Kg making it a strong offering in the sub-1.5 Ton pick-up segment. Being based on the Tata Xenon Pick-up means that the Tata Yodha gets the same front disc and rear drum setup while the suspension at the front is a heavy duty six-leaf semi elliptical spring setup. The rear suspension is taken care by Tata’s innovative take on semi-elliptical type setup.
At the heart of the action packed vehicle is the Tata Motor’s trusted and well received 3.0-liter four-cylinder diesel unit that develops 85bhp at 3000rpm and a peak torque of 250Nm at 1000-2000rpm. The power is transmitted via a 5-Speed manual gearbox.
